The First Beer of Christmas 2019 - Hitachino Nest Extra High
The First Beer of Christmas for 2019 is Kiuchi Brewery's Hitachino Next Extra High (XH) from Japan. Aged in shochu casks, this Belgian strong dark ale has a bright flavor and is delicious.

- Aroma: Caramel, plums, raisins, oak, and a kick of sake
- Taste: Brown sugar, toffee, oak, sake or sherry (probably shochu but I don't know what that tastes like), butterscotch, and a bit of spice
- Feel: Medium body, boozy feel, bright taste despite the dark coloring, dry finish, lightly tart
